Francis, Utah, located at the southern end of Kamas Valley, is the gateway to the Uinta Mountains and Wasatch National Forest. Surrounded by mountains, the valley offers a scenic getaway that retains its rural atmosphere in the midst of expansion. Since it was incorporated in 1939, Francis has enjoyed the growth brought about by the development of the Jordanelle Dam and reservoir, as well as the resulting highway which now gives travelers a more direct route to the Salt Lake Metropolitan area, just 45 minutes away. Francis is home to Frontier Days, a popular three day celebration over the Labor Day weekend and provides many activities for outdoor enthusiasts including hunting, fishing, camping and hiking making it an ideal location to live or play. Milling and paving operations are currently in place from Deer Mountain Road to Democrat Alley One narrow lane of traffic in each direction will be open. Driving patterns will change as crews move through the area - please pay close attention to all signs.   Crews have finished paving the outside lanes and shoulders.  Crews will continue paving the center lanes in this area this week - weather permitting.
Please note access from side streets may be delayed as paving crews move through the area.
One way traffic operations will be in place from Wednesday, July 26th at 6:00 pm to Friday, July 28th at 6:00 pm while crews make improvements to the canal structure in Kamas (MP 14.1).  The traffic will be controlled with a temporary signal on either side of the canal. Crews will be working double shifts to finish this work as quickly as possible.

Cycling Update
Due to the heavy machinery, trucks moving in and out of the work zones, and rough roads, we are asking cyclists to use alternate routes.  The work zone is closed to cyclists due to safety concerns and cyclists will continue to be detoured to Richardson Flat Road / Browns Canyon Road.

Pay close attention to signs and please watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone.  Also watch for wildlife crossings in the area.
